Ways to Break Out the Administrative Job Cycle (Part 3)

Do 2 to 3 things at once (in your job and out of it)

You have to assume that everything written in your job description is wrong.

The core duties of administrative work don’t change much job to job.  Doing things beyond what is readily available  puts the ball in your court to busting out of the endless administrative cycle.

The same advice here can also be applied to obtaining the following:

  • Jobs in which you are not qualified
  • Jobs outside your current industry
  • Creating a job that doesn’t exist (yet)

Aadding more responsibility and leveraging skills that appeal to your inner passions will have you remain much more engaged. And, you’ll be even more ready when a job opportunity you truly want comes around.

Side Note: For example, my volunteer work has led to opportunities for freelance work and being recognized amongst my (blogging) peers.

Also, become used to the fact that your work does not stop at the 9 to 5. If you are work utterly bores you, be lucky that you probably have enough left over energy to engage yourself in other ways. If your current admin job leaves you cranky and with little mental (and physical) stamina to connect with your passions – see this post.

Or, this one.

Next, being smart…not quite enough
