Actually, I’m not in a slump. I’ve just been lazy. However, a lazy slump and a plain slump are all the same.
And, you know what?
You get inspiration on how to maintain blog writing momentum from the craziest of places.
I got an idea on how to combat my slump from a makeup wholesaler. I’ve been investigating how to create unique eyeshadow looks. This intense investigation has been pursued despite the annoyed chagrin of the F.
The themes that run rampant with eyeshadow are dupe colors, wholesale mica and how to look like Kim Kardashian. What I’ve especially noticed is that these sites aren’t so much interested in talking about makeup. They break down brush technique. Ways to customize style. How to make yellow eyeshadow beautiful. That is what I find so fascinating about style blogging.
Stylish is the overall theme.
Yet, no one is coming up with any concrete, hard-run rules. Which I think is the discussion we seek. We think we want guidance – but we might just fool ourselves into thinking we want rules.
Although, you can’t want rules and be stylish. Style bemoans the existence of a rule. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop people from trying to figure out how the realm of interesting.
Everything is an interpretation of a theme – which is what style is all about anyway.
Moving on: the idea about post theming was appealing. Nothing new, but it was a refreshing for my stale brain.
She explains that you fill readers in on fascinating tidbits or gossip or…whatever. Nonetheless, you have to make “new” sound interesting. Theoretically, the next day is new – but no one cares if it’s Monday.
Then, write a post featuring how-to’s, tips and tricks or a tutorial. I can’t remember if I’ve ever written a tutorial for this blog.
So, I decided one of my favorite ways to write when in a slump (lazy or not) is to announce something completely asinine. Or, something no one really cares about because it’s Monday. Whatever it is – make sure it’s new, even if it’s not so interesting.
Okay.
After 2 years of looking, I finally found a job.
