Have you ever had one of those days (or weeks, or months) where you had nothing of any interesting significance to say?
Imagine, someone wiping your brain clean of any original thought. No matter what ideas you came up with, they weren’t good enough, interesting enough, daring enough – not enough anything.
And, that is the problem with the thought process. Call it what you will – perfectionism, lack of self-confidence, or whatever. It is the problem with any thing requiring brainwork. It is beyond basic instinct which is not nearly as troublesome.
Between growing up and growing older, you may feel as though the world has burdened you with the task of being the never ending source of originality.
And you (attempt) to rise to the challenge – only finding yourself failing each time before you even start.
This work is tiring if you are foolish enough to engage it. You haven’t given yourself the chance to bloom within the trains of thought you create. Missed opportunities and epiphanies abound along with the essentialities that make the intercourse of work and thought so fascinating.
Our intellectual wardrobes are not only dressed up in ideas, but more importantly, the connections that create those ideas in the first place.
Therefore, I’ve decided to continually (and consistently) remind myself that the world is too big to worry about how many concepts go unsaid, unnoticed, and unheard. It is not my job (or yours) to worry about innovation for innovation’s sake – it leads to disappointment and fear…or less sleep.
To satisfy these silly attempts at thought perfectionism – I will leave that to the systemic enterprise of paying good ideas forward - the Karma of Good Concepts. Ideas build upon each other, meet, and resonate with the people they are meant to vibe with.
People do not need to just think up good stuff – the good stuff comes to them (whether they want it or not). Yet, it is purely your decision of what the outcome will be.
In other words, if something is worth knowing, or learning about, and is meant to cross my path – it will.
And if not, that is OK.
The universe of possible upsets significantly shrinks, or at the very least, makes it more manageable for me to enjoy morning tea and deep inner thoughts.
