The Obligatory and Token Birthday Post

Today is my birthday.

And, while I could write one of those life-is-so-good-now-that-I’m-30 posts, I’ll try to avoid doing that since I hate being cliche.

I’m trying to think of something clever to write or impart some wisdom that would be of great use to twenty-somethings or anybody who dares to read this blog with any consistency.

Yet, I don’t have any.

Everything that’s been said about aging, turning 30 or growing up has already been said. Not just by me, but by a whole bunch of other people with lots more maturity and wisdom than I have now.

I would like to say that I have some big announcement or life has changed irreversibly for me in the last 6 days since I’ve actively blogged.

But, it hasn’t.

I’m trying to go to New York for an Art Works Project exhibit at the UN. K and I are launching the online magazine this month. We’re curating submissions and I have yet to write my own piece.

And, here I am, blogging. My priorities are so screwed up.

The BF and I are taking our first vacation together next week. This morning, Mom called to tell me the kitchen counter broke in 5 pieces. My gutters need to be cleaned soon.

Life is the same. It’s still going on. I didn’t mourn my 20′s with a huge drunken fest nor do I feel like I’m 30. I probably won’t feel like I’m 30 until I turn 31.

I am still blogging and it makes me happy. Therefore, I’m glad that I’ve arrived at my 30th birthday in one piece, intact and crazy enough to pump out more emo posts than you can handle. You can safely age and the world will remain the same.

Life is good.

Uh oh. I’ve become cliche. How absurd.
