Sarah Palin Gives Fickleness a Bad Name

Besides having the political  (and emotional) will of a sock puppet, I can’t believe people still take this woman seriously.

It’s one thing to change up your career and teeter towards being a political idiot savant – it’s an entirely different matter altogether when your professional moves are shrouded in unequivocal mystery and just plain old weirdness.

Fickleness can actually serve politicians well because they aren’t pegged into a corner. Yet, the stigma behind fickleness is that others decide you can’t make up your mind. You’re prone to the literal winds of competing choices.  And, culturally, American politicians tend to follow unwavering political scripts.

This is why “change” is such a popular mantra in various campaign slogans. Cookie cutter politicians are only in vogue until election year.

Nevertheless, Ms. Palin’s self-branding as a GOP maverick  is slowly inching towards a suicide throw out the window. Besides dozens of rumors surrounding the reason behind her impending resignation, the GOP is still swirling on whether she remains a power play for the party.

Beyond being a rash and immature politician, Palin is puzzling. She gets pissed because Letterman makes a few bad jokes about her daughter and threatens to  to sue people for “defaming” her. She likes playing the bully way too much. Or, at least, she likes trying to play the bully.

Palin may defend that people pick on her. Which, to a degree is true – but it doesn’t help that she makes it easy for them to do so. Yet, the mere fact that her chances of running in 2012 are discussed still means she holds some relevancy somewhere in the political sphere.

Now that she is (briefly) exiting the national stage, much speculation hovers over her future endeavors.

There are probably a number of things that drove Ms. Palin towards her resignation. Maybe she is pregnant. Or, perhaps she’s avoiding the negative thrall of a federal investigation.

I know. She’s going on a road trip with U2.

Who cares?

Perhaps Ms. Palin will surprise us. Maybe, she has a few more tricks up her sleeve.  Nevertheless, I’m tired of the surprises. And, I’m sure others are as well.

I’m just wondering, however, when Ms. Palin will wise up.
