Kumar Goes To Washington – Maybe You Can, Too!

After reading about Kal Penn’s (bka Dr. Lawrence Kutner on House) most recent foray into civic duty, I thought I’d highlight this awesome program I heard about while I was in Washington, DC this past March. I met a super cool (fellow Chicagoan and Northwestern alum) who was in the program.

Her current assignment? Working within the Drug Enforcement Agency. Absolutely mind boggling.

Who: This is a rigorous 2-year program for graduate students interested in public policy management and leadership

What: The Office of Presidential Management - The Presidential Management Fellowship

Where: Washington, DC

When: Actually, you would’ve had to apply last Fall for this program – but keep in mind for the near future

Why

  • Major networking kudos with top leaders
  • You get to platter sample government agencies – there are optional rotations to various departments
  • Career grooming directly from Uncle Sam

The catch: You’ll have to find someone to nominate you as well when creating your application
